All of us are very aware of the fact that we urgently need some basic information in English, and we will work on that as soon as we get two funding proposals (the one to the EU and another one) off desk. Taxonomy: We've FINALLY made our decisions about the three most important category-groups: That is: - needs ---> ready for translation into French, Finish and many other languages (see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:KartenKarsten/futureMap#Needs_fulf… - mode of interaction ---> ready for translation into French, Finish and many other languages https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:KartenKarsten/futureMap#Mode_of_In… - self-description of the community ----> we made the final decisions, that is: We know know which tribes we wanna start with, but we still need to finish the short descriptions in English (so, it is not yet ready for translation) Here are "the tribes"; https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:KartenKarsten/futureMap#Self-descr… As you can easily see: this is a project of CONVERGENCE; it cannot be otherwise. So, while we work together on TransforMap we enact TAPAs (There Are Plenty of Alternatives) and we network in real life (instead of only talking about the need to network) It is important to note that for TranforMap (not for OSM of course), the self-identification with one of these OR OTHER communities will be mandatory; I can explain this later. But this is the only way to - at the end - generate a global map, where we can make "all commons" visible, or "all solidarity economy projects" or simply "all TAPAs"- more on this later (because this only applies to the TransforMap layer, not for OSM (as we don't control the handling of categories, tags and data on OSM. We are also collecting the so called "Points of Interest", as this is sth. the common mapper (and user) is very interested in. TOOLS: Making the decisions about the taxonomy has been key for programming the testmapping tools, and again... it took us a while to get everything done. But now we have two options. - the first one is to collect data via our TRANSFORTESTIONAIRE: https://docs.google.com/a/getactive.org/forms/d/16LpwkNrL9YtX2-UknMO1M8k0_w… All tags are updated to the current state of the taxonomy! You can use it RIGHT NOW, the only BUT is, that data will be collected and need to be transferred manually to OSM later, but it helps us to get the testmapping done and get feedback on the Taxonomy, - the second is, that our programmers (some magic is in there, I swear you), are about to finish a prototype for the online testmapping (needing a few more days) and that the current state of the taxonomy finally allows to work on the official and user friendly entry mask. So; If you wanna start testmapping right now: GO FOR IT and use our transfortestionaire, If you wanna wait for another tool, bear with us. TESTMAPPING: You might not be surprised that giving the huzzle and buzzle in the whole process we finally decided that we will move the testmapping days to a testmapping month, that is MAY 2015 According to your advice, dear friends in Canada, we suggest to organize testmappings at a few spots, that is: wide and exhaustive testmappings in 5 or 6 cities in different regions/continents instead of a bit of testmapping everywhere. THEREFORE WE NEED YOU SUPPORT! Dear all, finally, after a year of discussions on how the INITIAL TransforMap Taxonomy might look like the "badgers", aka Taxonomy Team of Transformap, proudly present version1.0. of 3 category groups - Needs fulfilled by a community - Self-Description of a community - Mode of interaction (except the items we've put on the watchlist) These (and only these) categories are now ready to be... - presented to the Open Street Map community (Michael and Silke will care for) - translated into other Languages (@Diane; this is a GO! @Ruby if you wish to work on a Finish version, go for it...) - the basis for the global testmapping we are about to launch during the Mapping Month May (mmm) and therefore They are: - the basis for the entry mask Michael Vesely and/or Daniel Janz are about to share with us - as well as the basis for the TransforMap testionnaire, all of you can use https://docs.google.com/a/getactive.org/forms/d/16LpwkNrL9YtX2-UknMO1M8k0_w… Please NOTE: the data is ONLY up to date in our OSM Wiki (NOT in the ethercalc) and it is ONLY UP TO DATE IN ENGLISH, NOT in German. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/TransforMap#Needs_ful… We will soon integrate a few examples as this facilitates the process of beeing accepted by OSM. Liebe Leute, in den letzten Tagen haben einige von uns recht intensiv an einem Projektvorschlag für die Full Circle Foundation mit Sitz in Hongkong gearbeitet. (:-) :-) immer wieder toll, was wir gemeinsam alles hinkriegen) Manche werden sicher erinnern. Der Vertreter, John Fellowes, hatte unsere Performance in Leipzig erlebt, aus verschiedenen Richtungen gute Referenzen bekommen und uns daher den Vorschlag gemacht, etwas einzureichen. Am Naheliegendsten war, die Testmapping-Phase vorzuschlagen (da abgrenzbar und klein genug, zudem würde uns das die Möglichkeit geben, internationale Partner im testmapping zu unterstützen) Es gibt drei Dinge, die hier wichtig sind. 1. Transparenz herstellen. Wir werden 12.000 Euro beantragen in 4 verschiedenen Kategorien (siehe Seite 5 des Anhangs -> das ist der Entwurf. Dient nur Eurer Information; fertige Fassung wird online dokumentiert) Wer konkret was tut und wie unterstützt werden kann, muss geklärt werden, sobald der Prozess beginnt. Wir sollten bald beginnen, das Testmapping zu koordinieren, denn nun ist ja jeden Tag mit der Eingabemaske zu rechnen (wenn ich das richtig verstehe) und wenn nicht haben wir noch das testionnaire. Wer mit von der Partie sein will, melde sich bitte hier: auf der Testmapping Karte im Trello https://trello.com/b/Sd49Kgvf/dates-networking (notfalls bei mir per mail) 2. Die derzeitige Liste möglicher internationaler Partner für das Testmapping. Das ist bestimmt für alle ganz interessant. Schaut mal auf Seite 4. Da seht ihr, wie gut wir "schon aufgestellt" sind. Hier wäre es gut, wenn wir je eine Person finden, die je einen Partner "betreut". 3. Die Full Circle Foundation verteilt ihre Mittel anonym und bedingungslos, nicht bedingungslos in dem Sinne, dass kein Bericht zu schreiben wäre, aber in dem Sinne, dass sie nicht genannt werden möchte und keine politischen Vorgaben macht. Anders gesagt: so ganz genau werden wir nicht erfahren, was die Quelle des Geldes ist, die insbesondere tiefenökologischen Projekten zu Gute kommt (insofern sind wir fast schon eine Ausnahme). Wir hatten das in Leipzig bereits diskutiert und für akzeptabel befunden. Soviel für heute, Der Antrag geht in Kürze raus, die Entscheidung ist offen, aber zumindest der mit uns in Kontakt stehende Mitarbeiter ist sehr wohlwollend. Drückt alle die Daumen. Mapping Month May - listing local test mappings

Hi everyone, So we've started our preparations the Mapping Month May! (ie. testing the TransforMap taxonomy by organizing local test mapping) Yes you've noticed, it's been moved from March to May so we can use the editor for the test of our taxonomy model with three categories (needs, self-description of community, modes of interaction). More about those categories here: https://wiki.openstreetmp.aorg/wiki/Proposed_features/TransforMap If you want to start earlier as planned, you can always used our online questionnaire: https://docs.google.com/a/getactive.org/forms/d/16LpwkNrL9YtX2-UknMO1M8k0_w… We are currently in the process of elaborating a proposal for funding with the Full Circle Foundation for the coordination of the Mapping Month. The official is to see by the end of May a test mapping (with or questionnaire or with the in development editor) happening in at least 5 local communities on 3 continents. Treffen mit Code4Munich

Servus Transformap, ich war heute bei den Leuten von Code4Munich und wollte mal schauen ob man dort nicht Mitstreiter für Transformap finden könnte. Heute ging dort nicht viel, da ich mehr oder weniger in die Planung für einen Hackathon am 21.02 in München zum Thema OpenData geplatzt bin (http://www.meetup.com/OK-Lab-Munchen/events/219873019/ , Übrigens auch gleichzeitig der Launch des OpenData Portals der Stadt München.). Allerdings hatte das den Effekt, dass Transformap jetzt zumindest schonmal auf der Liste der möglichen Projekte zum Hackathon gelandet ist. An dem Hackathon werde ich selbstverständlich teilnehmen und dort versuchen ein paar Leute dafür zu begeistern. Ich werde versuchen, mich in der nächsten Woche mal mit David (ouishare) zusammenzusetzten und evtl. einen kurzen Pitch vorzubereiten. Wenn jemand bereits Material für sowas hat, immer her damit! Die Frage "Welche Communities sollen bei Transformap dabei sein?" ist eine Frage nach der Grenze, nach einem Innen und Außen, damit raumgreifend und konfliktgeladen. Hinter dieser Frage scheinen folgende Annahmen zu stehen: - das Ergebnis der Bemühungen soll primär eine Karte sein - diese wird durch Eingabe von Daten bei Openstreetmap erstellt - dazu werden mit Openstreetmap Datenauszeichnungen verhandelt - dazu wird eine Eingabemaske erstellt, um Testdatensätze in Openstreetmap zu erstellen Ich möchte anregen, den Umgang mit den Daten mehr als einen kontinuierlichen Commoning-Prozess zu sehen: Es gibt viele Unternehmungen, die Inhalte erstellen und pflegen, die in Transformap einfließen könnten. Einige davon sind in der Liste der Karten aufgelistet, wahrscheinlich viele bisher nicht erkundet und erfasst. Diese Liste der Datensammelbestrebungen sollte als Commons angesehen und gepflegt werden, mit dem Ziel einer Aggregation, vielmehr aber eines beidseitigen Datenflusses: aus den einzelnen bestehenden Projekten in andere und in etwas gemeinsames, größeres und von dort wieder zurück in die jeweiligen Projekte. Etliche dieser Unternehmungen sind kontinuierliche Projekte, ein eigenes Commons mit einer Gruppe von Commonern. Diesen kann in absehbarer Zeit keine günstigere Alternative in einem größeren Ganzen zur eigenen Selbstverständigung angeboten werden. Es wird daher darum gehen, kleine Schritte zu Absprachen zu gehen, die ein hin und her von Inhalten zwischen diesen einzelnen Unternehmungen und Transformap als eines unter ihnen begünstigen. Diese Absprachen müssen von Mensch zu Mensch geschehen: Menschen innerhalb von Transformap müssen zu den bereits bestehenden Unternehmungen Kontakte suchen und pflegen. Diesen Prozess durchsichtig und verantwortungsvoll zu gestalten, scheint mir die aktuelle Aufgabe von Transformap zu sein. Dabei kam schon die Frage auf, wie mit "sensiblen Daten" wie zum Beispiel Namen von Menschen, Kontaktadressen, Telefonnummern und ähnlichem umgegangen werden soll und ob die Liste der Listen überhaupt öffentlich zugänglich sein soll. Dazu scheint mir hilfreich, über Commitment nachzudenken. Commitment verstehe ich als Bezeichnung für die je-eigene Selbstverpflichtung, sich einem Zweck dienstlich zu verhalten. Commitment ist das, was freiwillige Prozesse laufend hält. Menschen innerhalb von Transformap, die sich ihrer Selbstverpflichtung bezüglich einer Community bewusst sind, könnten sich als Vermittler bereitstellen. Der Kontakt zum einzelnen Projekt läuft über sie. Sie veröffentlichen als Mittler eigene Kontaktdaten in die Liste der Listen. Innerhalb von Transformap kümmern sie sich im Einverständnis der von ihnen vertretenen Communities um Absprachen über Aufnahme und Abgleich von Daten. Hi miteinander, es hat gedauert, bis wir das ausgedudelt hatten :-), aber nun steht endlich der Termin fest, den ich hiermit öffentlich mache, so dass noch mehr Leute dazu kommen können. Es geht um die Frage, welche "community"/ welcher "tribe" sozusagen von Anfang an auf die Karte kommt (das Ergebnis ist wie immer nicht in Stein gemeiselt, aber mit diesem Ergebnis gehen wir bei OSM an den Start). Je mehr communities also bei dieser Telko dabei sind, umso besser!! Termin: Dienstag, den 10.02. um 18 Uhr. Bitte haltet Euch gut 2 Stunden frei! Die werden wir brauchen.
